Job description

Job Summary:
HDR is a company that values employee engagement and inclusion, striving to make a positive impact in the world. They are seeking an Infrastructure Automation Engineer 1 to develop and maintain automation blueprints, support integration with ServiceNow, and assist in the management of infrastructure-as-code changes.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain standard VCF Automation blueprints and catalog items using approved templates and design patterns.
• Build and update Orchestrator workflows for routine provisioning, deprovisioning, and lifecycle tasks under guidance.
• Support integration of automation requests with ServiceNow service catalog items and approval workflows.
• Assist with Git-based version control, testing, and promotion of infrastructure-as-code changes through established CI/CD processes.
• Support development and maintenance of internal platform APIs and reusable automation modules.
• Execute validation testing for blueprint, workflow, and integration changes before production release.
• Document automation logic, configuration standards, runbooks, and support procedures.
• Participate in incident, request, and change processes related to automation-supported platform services.
• Follow established security, secrets-handling, logging, and change-control practices for automation solutions.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in infrastructure automation, systems administration, platform operations, or a related technical role.
• Foundational scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Basic understanding of APIs, REST concepts, JSON/YAML, and source control practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD fundamentals and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
• Ability to follow technical standards, documentation, and change management processes.
• Foundational knowledge of virtualization, server, operating system, and infrastructure concepts.
Preferred:
• Exposure to VCF Automation / Aria Automation or comparable self-service automation platforms.
• Exposure to VMware Orchestrator workflow development or similar orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or other declarative automation tools.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow service catalog concepts or enterprise ticketing/workflow platforms.
• Exposure to secure coding basics, secrets management, and least-privilege concepts in automation.
• VMware, cloud, or automation-related foundational certification.
