Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer who will play a dual role as both a technical expert and strategic contributor to our hybrid infrastructure journey. This role combines hands-on engineering of virtualization and cloud platforms with infrastructure architecture leadership, guiding our modernization initiatives across on-premises co-located data centers and Azure cloud, including Azure VMware Solution (AVS).

You will support our infrastructure transformation by leveraging automation, improving operational efficiencies, and mentoring team members while aligning infrastructure roadmaps to business objectives. This is a key position in our Infrastructure Planning & Engineering team to enable scalable, secure, and efficient service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Architecture & Strategy

  • Develop and maintain the infrastructure roadmap aligned with enterprise goals, emerging technologies, and modernization efforts.
  • Design and oversee the lifecycle of infrastructure services, including virtualization, storage, automation platforms, and hybrid cloud.
  • Provide architectural leadership for colocated data centers and Azure, including DR and service continuity.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Application Operations, IT Asset Management, End User Tech) to align infrastructure with business and application needs.
  • Evaluate and recommend innovative infrastructure technologies to support long-term business growth and resilience.

Engineering & Operations

  • Lead implementation and management of VMware stack (vSphere, vCenter, VxRail, NSX-T, vSAN, Horizon, HCX, VCF) across on-prem and AVS workloads.
  • Build and support hybrid infrastructure in Azure, focusing on AVS, native services, and workload optimization.
  • Manage image lifecycle (Windows/Linux), hardening, patching, group policy, and compliance adherence.
  • Engineer and support SQL-based solutions, Exchange, SMTP relay, and storage/backup (e.g., EMC/Dell, Commvault, Rubrik).
  • Maintain and enhance DR/failover strategies for critical workloads, ensuring operational continuity.

Automation, DevOps & Monitoring

  • Drive infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform, Ansible, and other automation tools.
  • Contribute to building a DevOps culture within the infrastructure team, including CI/CD integration and process automation.
  • Enhance visibility and proactive management using observability tools like Dynatrace, VMware Aria Operations, Log Insight, and Network Insight.

Leadership & Governance

  • Provide mentorship to intermediate and senior infrastructure engineers; promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Act as a technical advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and audit/security requirements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including roadmaps, runbooks, operational guides, and architectural standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture and engineering, including hybrid cloud and on-prem data centers.
  • Strong expertise in VMware technologies (vSphere, VCF, VxRail, NSX-T, Horizon, etc.) and Azure/AVS environments.
  • Proven experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible), image management, and compliance.
  • Hands-on experience managing colocation data centers (e.g., Equinix), DR planning, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Linux, Windows Server, and email infrastructure.
  • Understanding of enterprise monitoring and analytics tools (Dynatrace, Aria Suite, etc.).
  • Experience with backup/storage solutions and business continuity frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of IT governance, change control, and policy administration.
  • Experience mentoring and leading infrastructure engineers across projects or functional initiatives.

Preferred Certifications:

  • VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect, HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) - Considered an asset.
  • AI Fundamentals (AI-900) - Considered an asset.

Soft Skills & Attributes:
