The Team

Black & Veatch's Infrastructure Advisory Business provides a portfolio of solutions focused on the asset lifecycle, including Asset Management & Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity Solutions, Planning, and Transactions. In this role you will be part of the Delivery Team supporting Solutions.

You will be working with Infrastructure Advisory's Rates and Regulatory Solution to deliver a wide range of projects and solutions, focusing primarily on rate cases, utility management and asset investment planning.

The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking an exceptional professional to join our Infrastructure Advisory organization as a Consultant to deliver advisory projects for our clients, with a focus on rates development for water utilities. Infrastructure Advisory focuses on the lifecycle management of assets, and you will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who are aligned with Black & Veatch's Purpose, Building a World of Difference.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with water and wastewater utilities to develop financial models, build rate cases, support strategic planning, and to optimize capital investments through assessment of risks and benefits.
  • Deliver innovative solutions to address our client's most pressing issues, including aging infrastructure, optimizing asset investments, improving data management and decision making, and enhancing organizational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and manage technical work for the following types of projects:
    • Financial planning, cost-of-service, and rate design for municipal and regulated water and wastewater utilities
    • Demand studies and impact of large loads on utilities and customer impacts
    • Affordability analyses
    • Total cost of ownership and financial viability evaluations
    • Business process assessments supporting operational effectiveness
    • Asset investment planning, business case evaluation and capital prioritization
  • Serve as a technical specialist on projects, applying detailed knowledge of water or wastewater assets and utility operation.
  • Uses expertise to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to provide insights, identify trends, opportunities and risks, review alternatives and develop solutions.
  • Under limited to moderate supervision, prepare reports, presentations, processes, tools, models, and other deliverables to effectively communicate analysis and recommendations to clients.
  • Facilitate and present in client meetings and workshops with limited to moderate supervision.
  • Support development of scope and fee for proposals, and may support business development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.

4+ years experience in a business/consulting environment.
