Job description

We're ALTEN Technology USA, an engineering company helping clients bring groundbreaking ideas to life—from advancing space exploration and life-saving medical devices to building autonomous electric vehicles. With 3,000+ experts across North America, we partner with leading companies in aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, EVs, rail, and more.

As part of the global ALTEN Group—57,000+ engineers in 30 countries—we deliver across the entire product development cycle, from consulting to full project outsourcing.

When you join ALTEN Technology USA, you'll collaborate on some of the world's toughest engineering challenges, supported by mentorship, career growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits. We take pride in fostering a culture where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow.

This position sits at the intersection of Information Technology / Information Management (IM), industrial operations, engineering, and business functions. The Project Manager will be responsible for driving IT-related projects from planning through execution, coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring projects are delivered according to agreed scope, cost, quality, and schedule.

The ideal candidate has previous experience working in aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, engineering, or another complex industrial environment, and understands how IT solutions support production and operational processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate IT / Information Management projects supporting the Kinston site and its business operations.
  • Manage projects from initiation through delivery, including scope, planning, milestones, resources, budget, risks, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between business stakeholders, manufacturing/engineering teams, IT teams, vendors, and management.
  • Understand business and operational requirements and translate them into structured IT project activities and priorities.
  • Maintain project roadmaps, schedules, action plans, RAID logs, decision logs, and delivery plans.
  • Identify project risks, issues, and dependencies early and drive mitigation and escalation when required.
  • Ensure effective communication and visibility regarding project progress, priorities, blockers, and decisions.
  • Prepare and present project status reporting, KPIs, delivery performance, workload/capacity information, and management updates.
  • Lead project governance routines including steering meetings, project reviews, working sessions, action follow-up, and escalation.
  • Monitor project performance against quality, cost, delivery, and schedule objectives.
  • Coordinate technical and functional contributors across local, regional, and potentially global teams.
  • Ensure projects comply with client IT/IM governance, architecture, cybersecurity, change management, and project management processes.
  • Support deployment, transition, change management, and operational readiness activities when applicable.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices, tools, templates, and governance processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager, IT Program Coordinator, or senior IT PMO in a complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of IT project delivery and Information Management environments.
  • Experience managing projects involving multiple technical, business, and operational stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage:
    • Scope and requirements
    • Project schedules and milestones
    • Risks, issues, actions, and dependencies
    • Resources and capacity
    • Budgets and delivery performance
    • Executive and operational reporting
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business users, and senior management.
  • Experience working in structured project governance environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive actions to closure.
  • Ability to work autonomously while coordinating distributed and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with a structured, rigorous, and execution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in Kinston, NC approximately 2–3 days per week

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
