Position Summary:
The IT Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and supports highly available systems that support commercial security operations and alarm monitoring environments. This role requires strong technical depth across server infrastructure, virtualization, storage, networking, central station receiver technologies, and IP-based communications. The ideal candidate combines hands-on engineering expertise with strong operational discipline, documentation practices, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Architect, implement, and manage complex on-premises datacenter and monitoring center infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, administer, and troubleshoot VMware virtualization environments supporting mission-critical applications and services.
  • Design, implement, and manage NetApp storage architectures, including capacity planning, performance monitoring, and resiliency practices.
  • Design and maintain complex Windows and Linux server architectures, including high-availability configurations, backup strategies, operating system lifecycle management, and production support practices.
  • Support alarm receiver infrastructure, including Bosch Conettix D6100, D6200, D6600, and B6800 receiver platforms; Sur-Gard System III, System IV, and System V receivers; DMP receivers; and IP-based receiver communication technologies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot IP receiver technology, network connectivity, signal transport, receiver redundancy, and related monitoring center communication paths.
  • Configure, support, and troubleshoot receiver automation interfaces, signal routing, communication pathways, and alarm signal delivery across multiple receiver platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of server, network, storage, monitoring, and receiver technologies.
  • Conduct infrastructure assessments, identify technical risks or service-impacting issues, and implement effective remediation plans.
  • Ensure servers and supporting infrastructure are maintained in accordance with security standards, operational requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure servers, applications, and supporting platforms remain current on approved security patches, hot fixes, firmware updates, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, diagrams, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentorship to junior engineers and support teams.
  • Stay current with advancements in enterprise infrastructure, virtualization, storage, networking, security, and alarm monitoring technologies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience as a Sr. System Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Monitoring Technology Engineer, or similar technical role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting commercial security, central station, alarm monitoring, or mission-critical operations environments.
  • Required experience with Bosch Conettix D6100, D6200, D6600, and B6800 receiver platforms.
  • Required experience with Sur-Gard System III, System IV, and System V receivers, including receiver programming, troubleshooting, redundancy planning, and signal routing.
  • Required experience with DMP receivers and IP-based alarm receiver technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting central station receiver environments, signal transport infrastructure, and monitoring center communications.
  • Strong experience with VMware virtualization technologies in on-premises infrastructure environments.
  • Strong experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, including server administration, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with NetApp storage platforms or comparable enterprise storage technologies.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and secure connectivity principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across servers, storage, virtualization, network paths, receiver technologies, and application dependencies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams, operations teams, vendors, and business stakeholders in a production-focused environment.

Preferred Experience & Certifications:
  • Experience supporting central station receiver environments, alarm automation platforms, and life-safety or commercial security systems.
  • Experience with receiver migrations, cutovers, upgrades, redundancy planning, failover testing, disaster recovery exercises, monitoring center migrations, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Experience working with Bosch, Sur-Gard, and DMP receiver platforms in high-availability monitoring environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting alarm signal delivery across IP, cellular, network, and traditional communication paths.
  • Experience coordinating with telecom, network, application, vendor, and operations teams to resolve signal delivery or receiver communication issues.
  • Relevant technical certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, VMware, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Linux+, or equivalent professional credentials are preferred.
  • Experience creating implementation plans, operational documentation, change records, test plans, and post-change validation procedures.
