GE HealthCare is a leading global medical technology and digital solutions innovator. Our purpose is to create a world where healthcare has no limits. Unlock your ambition, turn ideas into world-changing realities, and join an organization where every voice makes a difference, and every difference builds a healthier world.
If you are passionate about technology - whether hardware, software, or both - and want to launch a career in engineering design, the Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) is a great place to start. This entry-level rotational program combines hands-on engineering assignments with technical and leadership training to fast-track your development. At GE HealthCare, we are dedicated to shaping the next generation of technology leaders who are driven by innovation and technical excellence. EEDP graduates have the technical and business foundation to innovate and create the future of healthcare, together.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
As an EEDP member at GE HealthCare, you'll take on meaningful, technically challenging work that drives innovation and supports critical business priorities. Here's what to expect:
- Hands-on Innovation: Complete three 8-month assignments developing cutting-edge technologies in areas like diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, surgical navigation, software platforms, digital health, and patient monitoring.
- Real-World Product Development: Learn how to design and deliver impactful healthcare solutions-from concept to production-ensuring they meet customer needs.
- Technical Growth: Build core engineering and design skills through hands-on projects; complete a rigorous advanced technical training curriculum.
- Leadership Development: Strengthen leadership capabilities through structured courses, team projects, committee work, and corporate learning experiences.
- Mentorship & Support: Receive personalized guidance from technical mentors and assignment leaders to help you grow technical and soft skills for long-term career success.
- Project Execution: Contribute to the full product development cycle-from ideation to post-market-while deepening your expertise in your chosen discipline (e.g., software tools like Java, Python, MATLAB, C++, UNIX/Linux).
- Engagement: Participate in and lead committee activities to grow your influence, providing continuous improvement to the program, company, and community.
Basic Qualifications:
- Recent college graduate - Bachelor's degree completed by July 2027
- Preferred majors: Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering; Computer Science; or equivalent field with a strong engineering design focus
- Proven technical problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions and influence team decisions
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and adaptability in dynamic environments
- Willingness to be based in the Waukesha, WI area, with flexibility to relocate to other GE HealthCare sites as needed based on rotation selection (relocation assistance provided if required for on-program assignments)
- Passion for making a difference through impactful, meaningful work
Preferred Qualifications: (Some of the following as applicable to a hardware or to a software focused role)
- Strong academic performance demonstrated by a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), though all applicants are encouraged to apply
- Prior internship, co-op, research, or project work in areas such as hardware/software/firmware design, digital design, RF/wireless systems, diagnostic imaging, patient monitoring, life support systems, IT, networking, medical informatics, AI, software, or digital development
- Experience in healthcare or working through a full design cycle in a regulated industry
- Demonstrated project management skills including working with teams to deliver products, solutions, or prototypes
- Growth mindset. Adaptability, eagerness to learn, and openness to mentorship
- Demonstrated leadership and community involvement
If software focused:
- Experience in object-oriented design and languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, C/C++, MATLAB, Perl, UNIX/LINUX
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, data analytics, or machine learning a plus
If hardware focused:
- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles, simulation, testing, prototyping, and product development
