Job description

Company Description

Who is Pyrotek? Pyrotek is the most successful global industrial company you’ve never heard of (until now). Pyrotek is a global leader in high temperature materials and our products impact virtually everyone in the developed world. Our global team has worked for decades to deliver new technologies, advanced engineered systems and innovative materials to customers in industries all over the world. Join our team and create, improve and innovate the everyday!

Job Description

Build More Than Drawings. Help Build Industrial Furnaces Around the World.

Are you the type of engineer who would rather be standing beside a massive industrial furnace than sitting behind a desk every day?

We're looking for an Associate Engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges but isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and work in demanding industrial environments. This isn't a position where you'll simply create drawings and send them to the field—you'll be on-site watching those designs come to life and helping ensure they're built correctly.

If you're looking for a career that combines engineering, manufacturing, construction, and real-world problem solving, this could be the opportunity for you.

What You'll Do

As part of our Global Refractory Engineering Team, you'll help design and support custom furnace projects from concept through installation by:

  • Creating and revising AutoCAD and Inventor drawings
  • Developing bills of materials and manufacturing documentation
  • Assisting with project planning and scheduling
  • Supporting CNC manufacturing processes
  • Participating in customer and engineering review meetings
  • Producing as-built drawings following project completion
  • Working alongside experienced installation teams during furnace construction
  • Helping verify that projects are installed according to engineering specifications
  • Supporting quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the project lifecycle

This Is Not Your Typical Engineering Job

A significant part of this role happens in the field.

You'll spend time on active industrial job sites where refractory furnaces are being built. Expect environments that are:

  • Hot and physically demanding
  • Dusty, dirty, and noisy
  • Fast-paced construction settings
  • Manufacturing and industrial facilities requiring PPE
  • Hands-on with installation crews and skilled trades

Project work may require long days, extended workweeks, and travel on short notice as customer schedules demand. If you enjoy seeing your engineering work become reality and don't mind getting dirty to make it happen, you'll thrive here.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor preferred
  • Manufacturing, refractory, or industrial experience is a plus
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-starter who enjoys solving problems and learning through hands-on experience
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%)

Why You'll Love This Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants far more than a desk job. You'll gain exposure to engineering design, manufacturing, project management, customer interaction, and large-scale industrial furnace installations—all while working alongside experienced professionals in a highly specialized industry.

You'll leave every project knowing you helped build something that powers critical manufacturing operations around the world.
