About the role
As an Information System Security Officer (ISSO), you will drive impactful contributions and focus on outcomes. You will work under the direction of the Information System Security Manager (ISSM), partnering with system administrators, configuration control boards, government approvers, and system users to ensure the security, compliance, and readiness of classified information systems. You will have the autonomy to lead security initiatives, improve workflows, and maintain a strong security posture while upholding quality standards and continuous learning.
In this role, you will:
  • Provide system-level security configuration guidance to system administrator teams and conduct auditing and anti-virus activities to maintain system integrity.
  • Maintain System Security Plans in accordance with applicable government directives, including the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NISPOM requirements.
  • Coordinate system changes with the ISSM, Configuration Control Board, and government approval authorities.
  • Review systems for vulnerabilities, implement risk mitigation activities, and investigate security incidents including data spills, integrity incidents, and malicious code events.
  • Ensure all systems remain inspection-ready and deliver security education and awareness training to system users.

What you must have to be considered
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance within six months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of information technology and information security principles.
  • Experience with security configuration and administration of Windows and UNIX-based operating systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a detail-oriented, multi-tasking environment with strong organizational and customer service skills.
  • A strong sense of ownership, desire to create meaningful outcomes, and passion for work that serves a greater good for customers, communities, or global challenges.

  • Prior experience as an ISSO or System Administrator.
  • Knowledge of RMF and NISPOM compliance requirements.
  • Configuration management experience.
  • Scripting experience.
  • Experience with Cisco technologies.
  • Experience with Nessus, SCAP scans, and STIGs.
  • Experience with enterprise anti-virus tools.
  • Additional certifications such as CISSP, CASP, GSEC, GCWN, CEH, or Microsoft certifications.
  • Experience managing computer asset inventories and COMSEC processes.

Work Model - Onsite
