Sr. IT Project Manager Job Description

The Sr. IT Project Manager plays a key leadership role in planning, organizing, updating, and tracking all IT Strategic projects. This individual ensures that all Strategic Projects meet budgetary and timeline requirements. The role requires deep functional knowledge project execution methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall approaches. Must be familiar with general project management principles and practices, which include cost estimating, budget preparation, contract administration, pricing analysis, scheduling, procurement, and report preparation.

This role will identify all project requirements with business leaders and customers. Cadence for project tracking and communications will be defined and maintained.

Additionally, the Sr. IT Project Manager should maintain a high level of customer service in line with the organization’s expectations. Working with a variety of business stakeholders and customers, this role will serve as a business partner for the delivery of business applications solutions and processes.

The role will require a combination of business knowledge and technical skills to drive project success. This position will align internal project stakeholders and 3rd party applications providers in a secure and effective manner while meeting the needs of the organization.

JOB TASKS and REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Plans all tasks of a project including resource scheduling, Action Registers, Risk Registers, and budget tracking.
  • Develop integrated schedules when needed
  • Provides regular detailed reports on assigned projects progress including resource time usage, acceptance status, projected delays, EVA, burndown analysis, master resource plans, critical path analysis, and any anticipated problems
  • Provides project leadership to the IT Team and works carefully to resolve and document all issues
  • Regularly keeps Director of Information Services up to date on project activities and any required change activities
  • Provides professional postmortem analysis for all completed projects
  • Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Project, Jira, Primavera, or Smartsheet’s
  • Assist in determining scope and development of all IT projects
  • Interpret contractual issues and adhere to service level agreements
  • Maintains active project backlogs and staffing allocations
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years’ experience in the network industry providing project management
  • PMP Certified preferred but not required
  • Bachelors in computer science or business with equivalent experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to recognize business opportunities
  • Travel 20%-30%
