WHAT YOUโ€™LL DO

As an Information Security Intern, you will support the Information Security team in protecting company and customer data across a managed network services environment. You will gain hands-on experience in security operations, compliance programs, and governance processes while contributing to real-world security initiatives. You will play a meaningful role in strengthening SageNetโ€™s security posture while supporting real customer and internal security initiatives

This is a 10-week summer internship (June 2 โ€“ August 6) requiring 40 hours per week of on-site work. In this role, you will contribute to security operations, compliance efforts, and risk management initiatives that support the organizationโ€™s overall security posture.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Review customer and vendor contracts to extract key security and compliance requirements
  • Document contract metadata such as renewal dates, reporting obligations, and security clauses
  • Maintain and update internal tracking systems for contractual and compliance commitments
  • Organize and normalize large datasets for reporting and audit readiness
  • Assist in reviewing security alerts, logs, and reports from enterprise security tools such as SIEM platforms and monitoring systems
  • Support tracking and documentation of security incidents and response activities
  • Help maintain incident response documentation and internal runbooks
  • Support PCI DSS and internal compliance efforts by gathering evidence and updating documentation
  • Assist in risk assessments, policy reviews, and control validation activities
  • Track remediation items from vulnerability scans, audits, and risk assessments
  • Contribute to maintaining security policies and procedures
  • Assist with third-party/vendor risk tracking and documentation
  • Support asset inventory and data classification initiatives
  • Participate in security awareness and training efforts
  • Contribute to process improvement and documentation standardization
  • Complete a capstone project or final presentation summarizing key findings, contributions, or process improvements delivered during the internship

WHO YOU ARE
You are a detail-oriented and analytical problem solver with a strong interest in cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management. You are eager to learn, highly organized, and comfortable working with both technical and documentation-driven tasks.

Key Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets
  • Interest in cybersecurity, compliance, or IT risk management
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, firewalls, or general security principles, preferred
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly document and explain technical concepts

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Excel or data analysis tools
  • Exposure to security concepts such as firewalls, SIEM, or vulnerability scanning
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, NIST, etc.)
