Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid – primarily remote with some on-site meetings as required)

Hours: 40 hours/week | Day Shift
Billing Type: Hourly

Position Overview

The Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR), Information Technology Division (IT), is seeking an experienced Information Security Compliance Analyst to support statewide security and compliance initiatives. This role focuses on planning, implementing, monitoring, and improving security controls to protect enterprise systems, networks, and data while ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform system and application security assessments as required by state and federal regulations
  • Manage, organize, and track security findings, tickets, and compliance metrics
  • Create and maintain a master task list to provide visibility into high and medium priority security work
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, architects, and leadership to continuously improve security processes using AMS principles
  • Work with business and technical users to identify access needs, security threats, and potential violations
  • Develop and implement safeguards to protect digital data from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction
  • Review security procedure violations and provide guidance or training to prevent recurrence
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and testing to validate security controls and data processing activities
  • Review vulnerability and compliance scan results, identify false positives, and prioritize remediation efforts
  • Escalate and report security risks and findings to IT leadership and system owners
  • Review and recommend updates to security policies, standards, and procedures based on current risks and best practices
  • Promote security awareness and best practices across the organization
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Understanding of security technologies including firewalls, encryption, authentication, and access controls
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with various security tools and platforms
  • Experience organizing and tracking security findings and remediation efforts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Programming, or a related field (required)
  • MBA in Information Systems (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in computer systems with a focus on information security or compliance

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using vulnerability management tools such as Tenable
  • Project management experience, particularly in IT or security-focused initiatives
