Job description

"Enhancing the Lives of Those We Touch by Helping People Reach Their Goals"

For over 35 years, Melaleuca has taken this mission statement to heart. It is our guiding principle. Everything we accomplish is done with an eye toward promoting the physical, environmental, financial, and personal wellness of those around us. Our focus has always been on wellness. By innovating and selling effective, high-quality, natural, health-oriented products, we help people live more vibrant, healthier, and happier lives. When you walk through the doors at Melaleuca, you can feel it immediately. This is The Wellness Company. In our more than 30 years of operation, we have achieved consistent and profitable growth, with our revenues consistently exceeding $2+ billion dollars. We now have over 4,700 employees and offices in 12 countries. Melaleuca is positioned to grow even more rapidly in upcoming years.

In this unique role you will be able toย make a difference at one of the world's leadingย eCommerce sites focused on Health and Wellnessย as you provide ideas and concepts and then help bring them to life. Leveraging your aesthetic sense and ability to think temporally, you will provide high-level concepts that tell engaging stories, and help execute the web team's vision.

You willย expand your skills and experienceย in enterprise-level web and mobile platforms as you work with multiple brands and hundreds of products. We foster an open, energizing and collaborative environment and our team is made up of passionate professionals who deliver to high standards but also have fun in the process. While interactive is a strategic driving force in our organization, our Web Design team is relatively small, so your successes will be noticed.

To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have:

  • A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to:
    • Create clean, modern designs incorporating clear visual hierarchy, readability and good use of color, fonts, space, etc.
    • Bring a concept to life.
    • Overcome design challenges such as limited space.
    • Produce consistent high quality across diverse projects.
  • At least two years of hands-onย designย experience in the interactive spaceย (while technical / development skills are desirable, this role calls for a dedicated design professional).
  • Experience designing cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions.
  • Expertise in the Adobe Creative Suiteย (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) as well as the ability to sketch layouts and concepts quickly by hand.
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML or CSS a plus.
  • Sharp conceptual skills and the ability to think temporally, tell a story, and execute the web team's vision using whatever tool is required.
  • The ability to work with sitemaps, user flows, wireframes and other information design documents.

Just as important as your experience and skills will be the following characteristics and competencies:

  • A collaborative approach and willingness to engage in an environment of active idea sharing.
  • Sharp organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • The ability to produce consistent quality under deadline pressure while paying careful attention to detail.

Self-motivation and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Experience with the following is preferred but not required:

  • JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery or Prototype.
  • Video, 3D, compression and Internet media delivery.

We are very particular about our branding and the appearance of our digital presence, and your primary mission will be to ensure exceptional visual impact. At the same time, we'll look to you to help facilitate the transition from concept to final development. Those who thrive on the Web team have the flexibility and skillsets to move in any direction required to engage the user, whether that means creating a whole new look or learning new tools and technologies. During the creative process, you'll have opportunities to advance your own ideas, and you'll also need to be open to the ideas of others; once the team selects a direction, you'll need to be on board, whether it is based on your idea or not.
In addition, in order to be an outstanding Web Graphic Designer, you will:

  • Stay current on web trends, emerging design issues and best practices.
  • Be passionate about design and accept nothing but the best.
  • Combine clear, conceptual thinking with a bit of flair.
  • Keep a constant eye out for areas to innovate and processes that can be improved.
  • Share in our mission of "Enhancing Lives."

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will join a team that also includes the Vice President of Web Marketing, several Web Visual Designers at various experience levels, Content Managers, Web Product Managers, a UI / UX Engineer, Analyst and a few interns. This team works very closely with our team of Web Developers.

Melaleuca is one of the leading Health and Wellness companies in the world. We manufacture and distribute nutritional, pharmaceutical, personal care, facial care, home hygiene, and other wellness products and distribute them directly to the consumer through a full-service catalog and Internet shopping system. We carefully craft products used every day with the highest standards of safety, health, and wellness in mind.

This revolutionary system is changing the way hundreds of thousands of people shop by eliminating middlemen and reducing marketing and distribution costs. This enables the company to spend more on research and high-quality, ecologically-sensible ingredients, while maintaining reasonable prices.

Great cultureย - flexibility is a must in this position; you'll become a part of a fast-paced team dedicated to a feel-good lifestyle brand dedicated to changing lives. Like the rest of Melaleuca, we are proud to be part of a values-driven organization that treats employees with respect. Our employees and their families enjoy company parties and countless discounts around the community. We implement a very real open-door policy, and all employees are on a first name basisโ€”it feels more like a family than a multi-national corporation.

Safe, uncrowded, affordableย - nestled in the heart of beautiful Eastern Idaho, Idaho Falls is a prosperous and vibrant community, as well as the gateway to recreational paradise. This unique setting provides numerous opportunities for total wellness -- social, physical, financial, and emotional. If you love outdoor activities, this is the place for you, with the Snake River running right through town, the Rocky Mountains dominating the horizon, and Yellowstone less than a 2-hour drive away.

Excellentย compensationย -ย in addition to a competitive wage, we offer comprehensive benefits for our full-time employees that include all you would expect plus some remarkable surprises, such as a longevity bonus. Right here on-site, we provide a fitness center, free concierge service, and an employee restaurant.
