Influential information

What is an influential?

Influentials, often referred to as influencers, are individuals who have the power to affect the purchasing decisions or opinions of others because of their authority, knowledge, position, or relationship with their audience. They typically have a strong presence on social media platforms, where they engage with followers by creating and sharing content. Brands often collaborate with influentials to promote products or services, leveraging their credibility and reach. Being an influential requires authenticity, consistent content creation, and the ability to connect with and inspire a specific audience.

What are the most influential jobs?

Influential jobs include roles such as CEOs, policymakers, and industry leaders who shape markets, policies, and public opinion. These positions often require strong leadership, strategic thinking, and extensive experience, and they can significantly impact society or specific industries.

What are some common challenges faced by influentials when working with brands, and how can these be managed effectively?

Influencers often encounter challenges such as negotiating fair compensation, maintaining creative control, and ensuring brand partnerships align with their personal values and audience interests. Managing these challenges involves clear communication with brands about expectations, deliverables, and content guidelines, as well as reviewing contracts carefully before committing to collaborations. Building strong professional relationships and being transparent with audiences also help foster trust and long-term success in the role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an influential, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Influencer, you need expertise in content creation, audience engagement, and personal branding, often supported by a strong social media presence. Familiarity with analytics tools, content management platforms, and sometimes digital marketing certifications is highly beneficial. Creativity, authenticity, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for building trust and fostering loyal followings. These skills and qualities are important to create compelling content, grow an engaged audience, and collaborate successfully with brands.

The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What you'll do
  • Lead Best Buy's social and influencer strategy across paid and channels, establishing the vision and roadmap for social engagement and advertising growth.
  • Build and scale social and influencer advertising offerings across Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, and emerging platforms to drive incremental revenue.
  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of social and influencer professionals, building capabilities that support content, community management, and advertising objectives.
  • Oversee the activation and optimization of RMN and enterprise paid social campaigns through internal and agency partners while integrating influencer and organic social strategies.
  • Manage strategic relationships with platform partners, agencies, and executive stakeholders to drive innovation, business planning, and social performance results.
Basic qualifications
  • 10+ years of social media, influencer marketing, digital media, or advertising experience.
  • 5+ years of direct and/or indirect leadership experience.
  • 5+ years experience developing paid, owned, and earned social strategies.
  • 5+ years managing social advertising across major social platforms.
  • 5+ years leading cross-functional teams and external partnerships.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience building social, influencer, or retail media advertising products.
  • Experience in retail media networks, ecommerce, or digital advertising.
  • Strong knowledge of social commerce and influencer marketing.
  • Experience managing platform and agency partnerships.
  • Experience presenting strategy and performance insights to executive leaders.
