Job description

Outpatient Sport & Spine Private Practice in Virginia Beach, VA
32–36 Clinical Hours + 4–8 Leadership/Admin Hours Weekly

Thrive Proactive Health is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapist ready to step into clinical leadership while maintaining a strong patient caseload.
This role is ideal for a seasoned outpatient clinician who values autonomy, performance, and meaningful influence within a growing interdisciplinary practice. You will continue treating patients (32–36 hours per week) while dedicating 4–8 hours weekly to leadership, mentorship, and clinic development. Leadership and administrative needs may fluctuate week to week depending on staffing, quarterly objectives, and mutually agreed-upon improvement initiatives.

We are looking for someone who naturally takes ownership, enjoys partnering to grow a practice, and wants to make a measurable impact in both the clinic and the community.

What This Role Looks Like
  • Active patient care with an average caseload of 10–12 visits per 8-hour day
  • Responsibility for clinical standards and team performance
  • Collaboration with marketing and leadership to grow referrals and community presence
  • Influence in shaping systems, workflow improvements, and clinical development
  • Accountability for outcomes, productivity, and patient experience

This is a leadership role with support — not micromanagement.
We are looking for a self-directed clinician who prefers responsibility over rigid oversight.

Clinical Responsibilities (32–36 hrs/week)
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized plans of care
  • Deliver high-quality outpatient orthopedic and sport/spine treatment
  • Modify plans based on measurable progress and patient response
  • Supervise PTAs and support staff in compliance with Virginia regulations
  • Maintain timely documentation (24–48 hours)
  • Balance quality care with sustainable productivity expectations

Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities (4–8 hrs/week)
  • Oversee day-to-day clinical operations for assigned location
  • Support team development, mentorship, and performance alignment
  • Monitor clinic performance metrics and productivity trends
  • Collaborate with Marketing Director to support niche positioning and referral growth
  • Identify workflow improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Serve as the clinical point of contact for the location

What We’re Looking For
  • Active Virginia Physical Therapist License
  • 3+ years outpatient orthopedic experience preferred
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
  • Comfort leading PTAs and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Organized, proactive, and solution-oriented
  • Interest in building and growing a department — not simply maintaining one
