Infection Preventionist (IP)
Job Summary
The Infection Preventionist (IP) is a registered professional nurse who plays a critical role in overseeing infection control measures within healthcare settings. This position operates under the guidance of the Infection Prevention Manager or Director of Quality, maintaining a collaborative relationship with the Executive Director of Infection Prevention at the system level.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveillance to identify healthcare-related infections.
  • Ensure compliance with public reporting requirements for mandated healthcare-associated infections.
  • Collaborate in the development of policies and procedures within the healthcare system.
  • Assist in the education of patients and healthcare team members regarding infection prevention practices.
  • Perform regular audits and physical rounds in various facility departments to monitor adherence to infection prevention protocols, including construction, renovation, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization practices.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
  • Experience in infection prevention or a related healthcare field is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
