Job description


Employment Duration: 3 months
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical:
  • Perform routine clinical tasks such as vital signs, documentation, and assisting with procedures.
  • Document the use of interpreters and coordinate interpreter services for medical appointments.
  • Assist nurses, providers, and patients in preparation for exams and procedures.
  • Complete competencies to perform or assist with procedures as required, including sterile processing procedures and instrument preparation.
  • Act as a chaperone for medical providers as needed.
  • Transport patients safely as directed.
  • Monitor patient flow in and out of the clinic.
  • Obtain specimens and perform single laboratory procedures, adhering to all policies and procedures.
  • Prepare paperwork for biopsies, ensure documentation, and review wound care with patients.
  • Update mandatory logs and complete referrals and authorizations as ordered.
  • Assist physicians in writing and sending patient communications.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
  • Maintain locked medication cabinets at all times.

Communication:
  • Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism in telephone communications.
  • Notify providers of patient delays and service issues, advocating for patient punctuality.
  • Share pertinent information with healthcare team members.
  • Communicate provider delays to front office team and patients.
  • Address patient issues and complaints using conflict management skills.
  • Utilize electronic medical records for documentation within scope of practice.
  • Act as a strong team player, building rapport with patients and working effectively with or without supervision.

Operations Maintenance:
  • Maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms and lab areas, ordering and organizing supplies.
  • Review lab results and print for providers.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations for medications and procedures.
  • Schedule complex procedures and coordinate patient services.
  • Assign breaks for other Hospital Assistants and ensure clinic coverage.
  • Adhere to infection control procedures and equipment maintenance standards.
