Job description

Industrial Sewing Machine Operator
Location: Owosso
Pay:$17.21

Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm, OT may be required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! You MUST be able to pass a sewing test!

Are you skilled with a sewing machine? Do you enjoy working with your hands and using machines to create high-quality products? Duties:

  • Work from verbal and written instructions and production schedules to complete tasks.

  • Place cut fabric panels in racks for sewing.

  • Sew upholstery panels together, including welt cord application.

  • Create buttons for cushions.

  • Stuff cushion covers with polyester filling by hand or with a stuffing machine.

  • Sew the open ends of cushions after stuffing.

  • May sew decorative stitching through stuffed cushions.

  • Trim excess threads from finished cushions.

  • Operate heat seal machine and cut excess material from slings.

  • Use JDE system to determine next steps (Assembly or Boxing).

  • Track orders using dispatch screen.

  • Assemble tight seats by stapling fill and fabric to seat bases.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1+ years of related experience or equivalent training preferred

  • Ability to read basic instructions and match word/number patterns

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

  • Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs with assistance

  • Must be comfortable standing for long periods and working with hands
