Industrial Steel Shop Manager
The Industrial Steel Shop Supervisor position is a salaried position based at in Ruskin, Florida location. This position reports to the General Manager and will be a key position in ensuring the timely and effective execution of all client projects. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated proficiency at:
l. Partnering with the AutoCAD designer/Project Manager to create and modify product drawings as per project requirements and field fabrication "as built" standards over the course of the project.
  1. Provide shop floor oversight to ensure versioning and dissemination of project drawings to the production floor are accurate and complete and that drawings specifications are adhered to throughout the fabrication process lifecycle.
  2. Supervise the effective and efficient fabrication of the customer end-product to meet project schedule and budgetary requirements. This includes but is not limited to radiographic vaults, vault doors, cabinets, and lead brick installations.
  3. Overseeing the field installation of customer end-product to ensure a quality turn-key startup in a safe and timely manner.
  4. Overseeing shop operations to ensure:
    1. All employees are working in a safe and effective manner.
    2. All employees are coached on established best practices to minimize rework and process waste.
    3. Adequate levels of shop supplies to support and maintain routine shop operations.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
  1. Manage and direct daily workflow of the steel fabrication shop.
  2. Oversee the job tasks of the shop welders to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained.
  3. Provide timely coaching and feedback to employees to correct all performance gaps and other issues identified in the course of routine job observations and area inspections.
  4. Provide hands-on help in the fabrication process, as needed, to keep projects on time, in scope, and within budget.
  5. When required, manage/lead a team in the field installation of vaults, vault doors, cabinets and other installations involving lead brick and other in-situ shielding work.
  6. Order materials and supplies required in maintaining the workflow of the steel fabrication shop.
  7. Verify/check delivered materials against PO requirements to ensure quality and quantity of material received.
  8. Oversee the accurate and timely completion and submission of weekly timesheets for all employees in the steel fabrication shop.
  9. Oversee the maintenance of a clean, orderly, and efficient fabrication shop.
  10. Contribute ideas for continuous improvement to improve the safety, growth, and profitability of the steel fabrication shop.
  11. Conduct safety inspections of work area and equipment to identify and eliminate potential safety issues.
  1. Ensure adequate staffing of steel fabrication shop by managing employee vacation requests and other request for time off.
  2. Create work instructions for fabrication and installation of industrial projects.
  3. Other duties directed/requested by the General Manager.
