Job description

Act as a leader with an emphasis on people leadership through strong guidance to achieve departmental and customer goals as measured by a wide variety of inputs and analysis. Assist the Maintenance Manager with day to day operations, mentor Technicians, and continuously improve on reliability of equipment and processes.ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Requires to work on repairs and maintain equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements. Works closely with the Maintenance Manager towards achieving department goals. Works with Manager to provide tactical management of daily maintenance operations. Partners with Production to meet daily case counts and ensures compliance to all quality standards. Ensures a safe work environment and a safe workplace.

Assumes leadership of the maintenance department in the absence of the Maintenance Manager. Executes training activities as directed by the Maintenance Manager. Is adequate and timely communication of issues to the Leadership team.

Works with others (operators, mechanics, supervisors, and management) in such a manner to promote positive outcomes and attitudes among fellow employees. Reviews issues and resolves conflicts and challenges by gathering the facts and assessing the situation. Communicates (written & spoken) clearly with hourly and management.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Maintenance Lead and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Must be able to manually lift or move objects weighing 75-150 pounds. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, on feet for the entire shift. Must be able to work in cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, dirty areas with a noise level above 90 decibels. Must be able to work off of manlifts up to 50 feet high. Must be able to work in temperature extremes. Must be able to climb up and down stairs/ladders to heights of 50 feet, work inside and outside. Must be able to walk, stoop, sit, squat, climb ladders and stairs as well as lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs in weight.

Travel: N/A

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Technical Experience: Minimum of one (1) year related training/experience in all areas of maintenance. Must be able to perform mathematical computations involved in estimating and purchasing. Ability to troubleshoot equipment. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Welding skills are preferred.

Industry Experience: Preference for food processing organization.

Minimum Education: Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken. Must have experience or vocational training in mechanical and electrical equipment troubleshooting.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
