Sales Engineer – Manufacturing Automation | $70K Base + Commission | Elgin, IL

A growing global manufacturer of highly engineered industrial automation systems is expanding its sales team and looking for an ambitious Sales Engineer to join its operation in the western suburbs of Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer who enjoys working with people and wants to build a long-term career in technical sales.

This company designs advanced automated manufacturing systems used by leading industries including electrical infrastructure, construction, HVAC, appliances, and rapidly expanding data center markets. Business demand is strong, and this newly created position offers the chance to join during a period of significant growth.

If you're an engineer who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and wants more interaction than a traditional desk-based engineering role, this could be an ideal opportunity.

What You'll Do:

• Prospect and develop new business opportunities through networking, LinkedIn outreach, and cold calling

• Build and manage a pipeline of manufacturing customers across the United States

• Conduct presentations and solution discussions with decision-makers and manufacturing leaders

• Support customers through a consultative, relationship-driven sales process

• Partner with leadership to develop territory strategies and long-term account growth plans

• Maintain customer activity and sales opportunities within CRM systems

What They're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field required

• Strong desire to build a career in sales and customer-facing business development

• Comfortable speaking with new people and developing relationships

• Self-motivated and willing to actively prospect through calls and networking efforts

• Coachable mindset with a willingness to learn both technical products and sales processes

Preferred Experience:

• Internship, co-op, or 1–2 years of manufacturing or customer-facing experience

• Exposure to industrial equipment, manufacturing environments, or automation technologies

• CRM experience is a plus
