Civil Engineer Project Manager - Urban Development

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer Project Manager for our Phoenix office. The candidate will have 5-15 years of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Arizona with urban/land development project experience in both single-family and multi-family residential developments, in addition to commercial and/or industrial site development projects. Duties include but not limited to, business development, mentoring staff, initial project research, management of plan production staff, plan processing and management of plan processing efforts, construction administration and project close out efforts.

Registration(s): Registered Professional Engineer (PE License) Required

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)

Duties:

  • Manage the preparation of design and construction drawings.
  • Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects.
  • Interface daily with clients, develop proposals, negotiate scopes and fees, ensure timely billing and collections and prepare change orders.
  • Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters.
  • Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate construction administration.
  • Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting.
  • Identify contacts/clients/opportunities for new work.
  • Train/mentor staff and review work for quality assurance.
  • Responsible for assigned portion of office sales goals.
  • Prepare project work plan and schedule for projects.
  • Provide technically sound designs for our clients.
  • Ensure quality controls measures are being adhered to on project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona.
  • 5-15 years of civil engineering design experience in Land Development.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel and Word software.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely.
  • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Develop relationships with clients that allows for ease in communications and problem solving.

Project Manager (PM) Role Annual Performance Goals & Expectations:

  • Having a deep understanding of how your work and contributions as a co-owner add to Huitt-Zollars’ mission and core values.
  • Maintaining expected Effective Labor Multiplier (ELM) on sum of all associated projects.
  • Consistently upholds business processes including timely monthly A/R’s, invoicing, timekeeping, resource forecasting, percent completes, etc.
  • Achieves stated target personal utilization goal for PM.
  • Understands, follows and ensures quality control measures and risk management measures are being applied and adhered to projects and daily operations.

Physical Requirements:
