Job description

Building on long-term relationships based on a deep understanding of our clients, our Client Coverage mission is to offer clients the full range of solutions offered by Societe Generale with a particular focus on strategic clients and investment banking.

SG's Healthcare Coverage team is seeking a dynamic individual for a Vice President position in our New York office, whose primary focus will be to help our Senior Bankers' origination efforts for both existing and prospective clients, manage client relationships, and generate new business.across the sector. As the individual's career develops, the individual will gradually assume increasing primary coverage roles with clients and prospects.

The individual will be expected to perform at the highest level of excellence in a demanding environment and would be required to work with product partners drawing from the full spectrum of the firm's global resources to develop customized financial solutions to meet the needs of our clients and prospects.

The main responsibility as a Client Relationship Manager -- Coverage Banker is the initiation, development, and continued cultivation of client relationships with specific companies as the primary or secondary relationship manager. In this capacity, the individual is responsible for delivering the full breadth of products and services to clients and prospects globally. Societe Generale's coverage banking teams are organized by industry sector with this role to be within the Healthcare coverage banking team. The candidate is expected to assume an important role within a multifunctional team that is responsible for a wide variety of projects, some of which include:

  • Support Senior Bankers' origination efforts for both existing and prospective clients, managing client relationships, and generating new business to execute the group mandate
  • Manage as staffer our team of Associates and Analysts, and in this capacity help to develop our junior resource team in their work on various financial analyses and modeling, including valuation and capital structure analyses, company/industry research and peer benchmarking, corporate finance-related analysis, among other exercises
  • Help to prospect within designated sub-verticals in the healthcare sector resulting in onboarding of new clients that fit our growth mandate and SG's global platform
  • Be responsible for business origination, including collaboration with senior members of the team and product partners to generate ideas and source transactions to augment existing client relationships, establish new client relationships and recommend solutions across the range of investment and corporate banking products
  • Coordinate and build relationships with internal client teams and business partners as well as relevant client personnel across the enterprise; build relationships with product colleagues
  • Present ideas and proposals to internal and external clients and lead execution of transactions to facilitate deals from start to end including client sourcing, due diligence, negotiation, structuring, and transaction closing
  • Facilitate and coordinate product group idea generation and solutions development across a broad platform of global capabilities
  • Manage multi-product origination efforts across the range of investment and corporate banking solutions and across the many geographies in which the bank operates
  • Coordinate the development of client presentations, including pitch books, lender/investor presentations, internal committee presentations, approval memos, etc.; supervise the preparation and final work product
  • Manage several projects at once and work effectively as a supervisor, as an individual and as a key member of a team
  • Be ready and willing to be helpful and support all business activities and objectives with a one-team mindset
     
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance and/or capital markets
  • Experience in and in-depth understanding of the healthcare sector is preferred. The healthcare sector includes companies that are active in pharma, biotech, medtech, diagnostics and tools, consumer healthcare, managed care, pharmacy benefits, distribution, and provider services businesses
  • Previous experience as a coverage banker with existing and prospective clients would be an advantage
  • Experience with large corporate clients (mega cap through emerging growth companies) and financial sponsors, and investment banking products including M&A and equity capital markets, debt capital markets, derivatives, credit, cash management, and trade finance products
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholder relationships at all levels of the organization, with particular focus at the senior management level
  • Aptitude to synthesize significant levels of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions
  • Enthusiasm to take on new and challenging tasks in a dynamic environment has a high level of motivation, dependability, intelligence, and ethics 
  • Superior communication and presentation skills to represent the business across internal and external platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills, attention to detail and client focus
  • Technical skills including expertise in software programs Excel, PowerPoint, Word), financial analysis (DCF, LBO), and experience in working with data sources (CapIQ, FactSet)
  • Series 79 & 63 preferred but not required. Expectation to complete series exams within five months of joining
