Description
Assume the primary lead with respect to the coordination of the recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Recruit off-campus and conduct evaluations and home visits. Coordinate campus visits for potential student-athletes. Ensure program compliance and reporting relative to recruitment activities. Assists the head coach in the coordination of administrative areas of program management including, but not limited to, scheduling of competitions and practices, travel plans, equipment. This person will coordinate maintenance of the baseball grounds. Possession of or willingness to acquire a CDL preferred.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Relevant coursework/formal training required.
  • Prior coaching experience, college level experience including recruiting and camps/clinics preferred.
  • Academic advising experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of and commitment to student athlete development and demonstrated knowledge of baseball.
  • Knowledge of computer information systems including social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • Must have experience or related experience in supervision of young people.

Work Performed
  • Coordinate activities through the Head Baseball Coach.
  • Assist with strength and conditioning program.
  • Assist with JV program as assigned by head coach.
  • Assist the head coach on varsity game days.
  • Assist in the recruitment of players for the team. Includes overnight, weekend, and out-of-state travel.
  • Responsible for maintenance of baseball grounds and surrounding areas as assigned by head coach, including summer fieldwork (water/mow/weed-eat/trash pickup, etc.).
  • Assist with maintenance and supervision of the Multi-Purpose building, weight room, and locker room as assigned by the head coach.
  • Assist with summer try-outs as necessary.
  • Assist with annual baseball camps and activities as assigned.
  • Assist with fund-raising activities throughout the year. This includes week night and weekend activities.
  • Assist in the recruitment of players for the team. Includes overnight, weekend, and out-of-state travel.
  • Provide instruction to baseball student-athletes on the fundamentals, details and strategies of baseball as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques of the sport.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to student athletes.
  • Council student-athletes in sport participation, personal development and academics.
  • Attend all games and practices as directed by the head coach.
  • Scout opposing teams as assigned.
  • Adhere to all policies and regulations of the Indian Hills Athletic Department, Indian Hills Community College, the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
  • Supervise baseball equipment.
  • Dress act, and represent Indian Hills Community College appropriately at all athletic events, practices, and activities.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
