Independent contractor work camping refers to individuals or couples who travel and live in their RVs while working seasonal or temporary jobs, typically at campgrounds, resorts, or parks. As independent contractors, they are not employees but provide specific services under a contract, handling their own taxes and benefits. This arrangement offers flexibility and the chance to explore different locations while earning income. Work campers often perform tasks such as maintenance, guest services, or groundskeeping in exchange for wages, a campsite, or both.

Familiarity with campground management software, RV systems, and safety protocols is often required. Strong communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for managing varied tasks and living in diverse environments. These abilities ensure effective service delivery, positive guest experiences, and the flexibility needed to succeed in remote, self-directed work camping roles.
