The Center for PreCollege Programs administers precollege and pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students for success in secondary and post-secondary education while promoting a college-going culture.
Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a College & Career Institute Instructor for multiple positions within the Center for PreCollege Programs. The College & Career Institute Instructor positions are within the PreCollege Academy and College & Career Institute, reports to the Program Manager-PreCollege Academy.
The College & Career Institute Instructor positions are part-time, temporary, and primarily responsible for providing instruction in Composition & Literature, Mathematics, Science, and various elective courses for grades 6-12.
The summer programs operate from late June to mid-August and are offered Monday-Thursday. Our academic year programs align with the academic calendars of various Essex County school districts. They are offered every other Saturday. (Various positions available)
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Prepare course materials (e.g., syllabi, presentations, hand-outs, reading materials)
  • Create and facilitate team building and mentoring workshops for middle and high school students
  • Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum to enhance student learning and meet program objectives
  • Attend on-site training sessions and complete necessary online modules
