Agriculture Sales & Market Development Representative

Engagement Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Territory: Oregon
Market: Agriculture, crop protection, agronomy, dealers, distributors, consultants, applicators, and growers
Compensation*: This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity. Compensation is expected to include a monthly market development retainer plus performance-based commission or bonus tied to collected sales, gross margin, new account development, territory growth, or product adoption.

Position Summary

P5 Consulting Services is representing a global agrochemical and specialty chemical company seeking an experienced Agriculture Sales & Market Development Representative for an Oregon territory.

This is a flexible 1099 contractor opportunity for a self-directed agricultural sales professional, agronomist, crop consultant, or crop protection representative with strong relationships in Oregon agriculture. The role will support the commercialization, promotion, and sale of crop protection products through dealers, distributors, applicators, consultants, and grower relationships.

The ideal candidate is self directed and accountable. This individual must understand both the technical and commercial sides of agriculture and represent products professionally, ethically, and in compliance with applicable product labels, licensing requirements, and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a territory work plan with clear milestone objectives, and meet agreed-upon performance goals in coordination with the client organization.
  • Develop and expand sales activity across Oregon's agricultural markets.
  • Build relationships with dealers, distributors, agricultural retailers, applicators, crop consultants, and growers.
  • Promote crop protection products, including herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and related specialty chemical products.
  • Support product education, market promotion, seasonal sales activity, field-level discussions, and customer follow-up.
  • Identify new business opportunities by crop, geography, pest pressure, product need, and customer demand.
  • Write recommendations.
  • Provide product-use and agronomic guidance only where legally permitted and properly licensed.
  • Support order flow, customer communication, account development, and payment follow-up as appropriate.
  • Provide market intelligence related to customer needs, competitive products, pricing, product performance, and registration-related feedback.
  • Represent the company professionally in local agricultural meetings, trade events, and industry settings as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

10+ years of agricultural sales, crop protection, agronomy, crop consulting, or agricultural retail experience preferred.

  • Established relationships in Oregon agriculture strongly preferred.
  • Experience with specialty crops, row crops, hazelnuts, nursery crops, tree fruit, potatoes, onions, wine grapes, hops, berries, wheat, vegetables, or related crop markets preferred.
  • Agronomy, CCA, PCA, pesticide license, applicator license, or comparable technical credential preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor.
Strong communication, follow-up, and territory management discipline.
