They provide architectural services such as designing buildings, drafting plans, obtaining permits, and overseeing construction projects. They may work with multiple clients at once, offering expertise in residential, commercial, or industrial architecture. This role requires strong project management skills, business acumen, and compliance with local building codes and regulations.

What are the typical responsibilities and workflow for an independent contractor architect?

As an Independent Contractor Architect, your typical responsibilities include meeting with clients to understand project requirements, creating design concepts and technical drawings, managing project timelines, and overseeing construction phases to ensure compliance with plans and codes. You often coordinate with engineers, contractors, and local authorities to resolve site-specific challenges and secure necessary permits. Workflow can vary widely depending on project scope but usually involves balancing multiple projects simultaneously and maintaining clear records and communication. This role offers autonomy and flexibility, but also requires strong self-motivation and organizational skills to manage deadlines and deliver quality work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an independent contractor architect?

To thrive as an Independent Contractor Architect, you need a professional degree in architecture, relevant licensure, strong design abilities, and expertise in building codes and construction practices. Exceptional communication, time management, and client relationship skills help set successful architects apart. These capabilities ensure the delivery of high-quality projects, client satisfaction, and effective coordination in a competitive and project-driven environment.

Job description

Safer Escape LLC | Exclusive U.S. Distributor of the Safer Escape Retractable Fire Escape Ladder

Compensation: 100% Commission — Uncapped Earning Potential, we would expect a successful contractor to earn upwards of $150,000.

Commission: 10%-15% on gross sales, average sale $3,000-4,000

About the Opportunity

Safer Escape is looking for driven, independent sales reps to bring a proven, code-compliant life-safety product to homeowners, HOAs, property managers, and government/military facilities. This is a ground-floor opportunity with a growing, family-oriented company and a product that sells itself once people see it — the Safer Escape ladder is currently under review by BobVila.com for its Tool of the Year category (with a full product review likely to follow) and has drawn Shark Tank interest.

What You'll Do

● Sell the Safer Escape ladder direct to homeowners (D2C) and to business/institutional accounts (B2B)

● Build relationships with homeowners, builders, roofing and home-improvement contractors, architects, property managers, HOAs, municipalities, utilities, government agencies, and facilities contacts in your territory

● Your potential is only limited by your creativity and imagination

● Represent Safer Escape at community events, trade shows, and door-to-door where applicable

● Manage your own schedule and pipeline

What We Offer

● Exclusive territory — no competing reps in your area

● Full training on the product, compliance story, and sales process

● Marketing materials provided — flyers, brochures, digital assets, and lead support

● Uncapped commission — your effort sets your income

● Make your own hours — full flexibility, full- or part-time

● Family-oriented company that treats reps like partners, not numbers

A Perfect Add-On Sale For

This product is an ideal complement for salespeople already selling roofing, siding, windows/doors, gutters, solar, alarm/security or other home services: Why?

● Already inside the home — no extra prospecting needed

● Short, simple pitch that closes fast alongside a bigger job

● High commission-per-hour since it rides on an existing appointment

● No competing with your core product — pure incremental income

Who We're Looking For

● Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working independently

● Strong prospecting, relationship-building, and closing skills

● Experience in home improvement, life-safety, security, solar, roofing, or pest control sales a plus

● Comfortable with both B2B and D2C/D2D sales conversations

● Reliable transportation; local market knowledge a plus

Compensation & Classification

1099 independent contractor. Commission-only, with no cap on earnings. Top performers can grow into larger territories or team-lead roles.

Location: Remote / Field-Based — Exclusive Territory Available
