Job description

Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of industrial production equipment and select facility systems. You will work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems, including CNC machinery and other complex manufacturing equipment. The position requires strong diagnostic skills, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable operations across the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair on a wide range of industrial production equipment and selected facility-related systems.
  • Read, interpret, and use schematics, prints, and electrical diagrams to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on industrial production machinery and building-related equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Document all repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, work orders, and related activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Rebuild, overhaul, and repair automated CNC machine tools, including aligning components and making precision adjustments to ensure accurate operation.
  • Handle hazardous waste disposal using proper training, procedures, and equipment to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Execute general maintenance work orders across the facility, including repairs on tooling, fixtures, and support equipment.
  • Maintain, repair, and modify CNC machines to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Support and coordinate with outside contractors, providing technical guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping and 5S activities to keep the maintenance department clean, organized, and safe.
  • Research, develop, and refine maintenance procedures when working with new equipment installations or unique maintenance events.
  • Generate clear documentation for new procedures and troubleshooting methods, particularly for hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities support safe operations, efficient production, and compliance with facility standards.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and repair on industrial production equipment and facility-related systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding schematics, mechanical prints, and electrical diagrams for diagnostic and repair work.
  • Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and building-related equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience rebuilding, overhauling, and repairing automated CNC machine tools.

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Either at least 7 years of experience with Industrial Automated Systems Maintenance, Metal Fabrication Equipment Maintenance, and Equipment Repair and Maintenance, or a 2-year technical school degree from an accredited institution in Industrial Maintenance, Automated Industrial Systems, Industrial pneumatic/electronic controls, HVAC, plumbing, electricity, welding, fluid power, or mechanics plus at least 5 years of experience in Industrial Automated Systems Maintenance, Metal Fabrication Equipment Maintenance, and Equipment Repair and Maintenance.
  • Capability to follow safety procedures and handle hazardous waste with proper training and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Advanced experience and a deep understanding of mechanical maintenance in an industrial setting.
  • Extensive experience repairing and troubleshooting CNC lathes and vertical mills.
  • Experience working with robotic welders and manual welding equipment.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting rotomold equipment.
  • Experience working with powered industrial trucks and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with laser cutting machines, including Mitsubishi and similar systems.
  • Experience maintaining paint line equipment and associated systems.
  • Special Engineer State of Minnesota Low Pressure Boiler License (preferred).

  • Strong documentation skills for creating and updating maintenance procedures and technical instructions.
