Job description

QTS is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to work from our Overland Park, KS office.
QTS is a Blackstone REIT portfolio company.
WHO YOU ARE:
The Senior Tax Associate will be a key contributor within a dynamic and rapidly growing tax function supporting a complex REIT and partnership-based structure. This role will play an integral part in the Company's federal, state, local, and international tax compliance, as well as tax provision and planning initiatives.
This position provides significant exposure to complex partnership structures, REIT compliance, and multi-entity reporting across a large and expanding portfolio. It is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working through technical challenges, and is eager to take ownership of high-impact workstreams.
This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, Tax and works closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
KEY FOCUS AREAS:
  • Complex partnership taxation, including multi-tiered structures, allocations, and capital accounts
  • REIT structure and compliance, including taxable REIT subsidiaries (TRSs)
  • Multi-entity tax reporting across a large and growing portfolio of assets
  • Supporting a high-growth environment with evolving structures, transactions, and processes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Support tax compliance and reporting for complex partnership structures, including joint ventures and multi-tiered entities
  • Assist with REIT compliance and monitoring activities, including coordination with internal teams and external advisors
  • Prepare and review federal, state, local, and international income tax filings, including partnership and corporate returns
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and documentation in accordance with ASC 740
  • Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and other teams to support transactions, restructurings, and new investments
  • Conduct tax research and assess the impact of new laws, regulations, and business initiatives
  • Manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including the use of tax technology and automation tools
  • Support tax audits and respond to inquiries from taxing authorities
  • Communicate effectively with external advisors and internal stakeholders

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant tax experience (public accounting or industry)
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 and tax provision processes
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and tax research tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred
  • Big 4 or large public accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with partnership taxation strongly preferred
  • Exposure to real estate, infrastructure, or REIT structures highly desirable
  • Familiarity with tax technology tools (e.g., Alteryx, Onesource, SAGE, or similar
