Inclusion Intern information

What is an inclusion intern?

Inclusion Interns are students or early-career professionals who support organizations in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Their responsibilities often include assisting with research, organizing events, creating educational materials, and helping implement inclusive policies. Inclusion Interns work closely with DEI teams to foster a welcoming environment for all employees and may also participate in outreach and community engagement activities. This role provides valuable experience for those interested in social justice, human resources, or organizational development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an inclusion intern?

To thrive as an Inclusion Intern, you need a foundational understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) concepts, often supported by coursework or experience in social sciences or related fields. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Microsoft Office, survey software, or learning management systems, as well as knowledge of DEI frameworks, is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication are essential for building relationships and supporting inclusive initiatives. These skills ensure that the intern can actively contribute to fostering diverse and equitable environments within organizations.

What types of projects and initiatives can an inclusion intern expect to work on during their internship?

As an Inclusion Intern, you can expect to assist with a variety of projects aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within an organization. Typical responsibilities may include supporting the development and execution of training sessions, analyzing diversity metrics, helping organize events or workshops, and researching best practices in inclusive workplace policies. You’ll likely collaborate closely with HR, employee resource groups, and other departments to implement initiatives that foster an inclusive culture. This hands-on experience provides valuable exposure to both strategic planning and day-to-day operations in DEI work.
