Inbound Sales Executive information

What is an inbound sales executive?

Inbound Sales Executives are professionals responsible for handling incoming sales inquiries from potential customers. They engage with leads who have shown interest in a company's products or services, answer questions, provide information, and guide them through the purchasing process. Their main goal is to convert these inbound leads into customers by understanding their needs and offering suitable solutions. Unlike outbound sales roles, inbound sales focus on responding to interested prospects rather than initiating contact.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an inbound sales executive?

To thrive as an Inbound Sales Executive, you need strong communication, persuasion, and active listening skills, often supported by a background in sales or customer service. Familiarity with CRM software, sales tracking tools, and sometimes product-specific certifications are typically required. Resilience, adaptability, and relationship-building abilities are crucial soft skills that set top performers apart. These competencies enable Inbound Sales Executives to effectively convert leads, build customer trust, and meet sales targets in a competitive environment.

How does an inbound sales executive typically collaborate with the marketing and customer support teams?

As an Inbound Sales Executive, you’ll work closely with the marketing team to ensure that leads generated from campaigns are properly qualified and nurtured through the sales funnel. Additionally, you’ll often coordinate with the customer support team to address client concerns, gather product feedback, and ensure a seamless handoff after closing sales. This cross-functional collaboration helps improve the customer experience and supports your success in meeting sales goals.

Job description

Sales Executive

Role Overview:

Yellow Dog Software, the leader in inventory management solutions, is growing and looking for experienced, results-driven sales professionals to join our team. We partner closely with clients across a variety of industries, including food & beverage, gaming, resorts, hotels, amusement, institutions, clubs, and retail.

We are hiring Sales Executives to support growth across several of our key vertical markets. The ideal candidate is a consultative, self-motivated sales professional who can quickly learn our technology, identify opportunities, and build trusted relationships with both operational users and business leaders. Vertical alignment will be based on experience, strengths, and business needs.

The ideal candidate is a consultative B2B seller with strong business judgment, excellent CRM discipline, and the ability to manage complex opportunities independently. This person must be able to qualify effectively, prioritize high-value opportunities, and build a healthy pipeline through inbound leads, outbound prospecting, partner referrals, trade shows, and strategic account targeting.

This role requires someone who can sell into operationally complex environments, communicate clearly with both executives and end users, and collaborate cross-functionally with implementation, support, product, integrations, account management, marketing, and partner teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the full sales cycle from discovery to close.
  • Building and maintaining a qualified pipeline.
  • Qualify opportunities based on fit, urgency, revenue potential, technical feasibility, and implementation readiness
  • Accurately maintaining opportunities, notes, next steps, and forecasts in CRM.
  • Following up on inbound, outbound, trade show, and partner-sourced leads.
  • Build credibility with both executive decision-makers and operational users
  • Develop strong working knowledge of the software and deliver hands-on, consultative demonstrations that connect system capabilities to the prospect’s vertical, business needs, and operational workflows
  • Collaborate with internal teams to confirm fit, feasibility, and implementation expectations.
  • Meet or exceed assigned monthly, and annual sales goals.
  • Representing the company professionally in market, partner, and trade show settings.
