Job description

Location: Portland Metro Area
Hybrid Position: Monday & Friday Remote, Tuesday-Thursday Downtown Portland Office

About the Role

Skill Demand Energy supports the Energy Trust of Oregon’s residential energy efficiency programs, helping households across Oregon access incentives and resources that reduce energy costs and improve home comfort. Our work focuses heavily on serving historically underserved communities, including low-income, rural, and culturally diverse populations.

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Call Center Representative to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly and professionally, and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.

This is more than a traditional call center role. Team members are trusted to manage complex customer inquiries, support detailed program processes, and contribute meaningfully to both customer experience and operational success.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

You’ll be trusted with real responsibility and real impact.

  • Handle a high volume of inbound calls with professionalism, accuracy, and empathy
  • Process residential incentive applications and related documentation
  • Answer detailed questions about incentive eligibility, requirements, and timelines
  • Resolve disputed incentive claims using policy interpretation and problem-solving skills
  • Support customer, contractors, and community-based organizations with program inquiries
  • Perform accurate and consistent data entry across multiple systems
  • Maintain clear and well-written customer records and documentation
  • Follow established processes accurately and deliver consistently error-free work
  • Participate in process improvement and quality assurance initiatives
  • Mentor and support developing team members as needed

This role requires focus, follow-through, and detail-oriented work habits. It also rewards those who take pride in getting things right and going the extra mile for customers.

Who Thrives Here

We’re intentionally seeking diverse candidates across race, background, age, identity, and life experience, who are deeply committed to exceptional customer service and bring a strong sense of ownership to their work.

You’ll likely succeed in this role if you

  • Have 3+ years of call or contact center experience
  • Are known for your strong work ethic and reliability
  • Have solid professional references who will vouch for your integrity
  • Can manage high call volume without sacrificing accuracy
  • Are meticulous with data entry and customer documentation, and have previous experience using CRM systems
  • Solve problems proactively instead of passing them along
  • Maintain healthy work–life balance and have established self-care routines
  • Enjoy working with younger colleagues and see value in mentoring and advising
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and confidently, especially when explaining complex information

A college degree and spanish speaking candidates are preferred, but experience and capability matter more.

How We Work

Hybrid schedule

  • Monday & Friday – Remote
  • Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – In office (Downtown Portland, OR)
  • Day shift only - no nights
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and human-centered team culture

If you’re not currently living in Portland Metro Area, Oregon, please include a brief note about your relocation timeline.

Benefits That Support Real Life

  • 401(k)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development support

How to Apply

A cover letter or statement of interest is required. We want to know...

  • Why our work matters to you
  • How your experience prepares you for high-volume, high-accuracy customer service
  • What kind of teammate you strive to be, and the type of teams you thrive working with
