Job description

Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases is a leading provider of cryogenic pumps, heat exchangers, process systems, services, and solutions for the LNG and industrial gases industry. We are a subsidiary of Nikkiso Company Ltd, a leading industrial manufacturer headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with over $1.5 B in annual revenue, 8000 + employees worldwide, and publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.


Nikkiso Expander Application Technology (NEAT) is filling a position for an summer electrical engineer intern. 

This position is based at NEAT located in Irvine, CA.


  • Support development of motor control systems, VFDs (variable frequency drives), and control panels
  • Help review and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Assist in the design, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems used in reciprocating pump units

    Work with engineers to analyze pump performance data (pressure, flow, vibration, temperature)

  • Assist in integrating sensors, instrumentation, and monitoring systems with reciprocating pump
  • Help troubleshoot electrical faults, signal issues, and system malfunctions
  • Collect and document test results and performance metrics

  • Driven college students, or recent college graduates, with a major or degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Determined go-getters who embrace challenges.
  • Passionate individuals that are eager to learn
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities in manufacturing engineering, mechanical design, critical thinking, and attention to detail

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time to use the computer, to perform paperwork activities, to attend meetings, etc.
  • Intermittent walking to gain access to areas within the facility.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to use a computer and to read and complete written documents.
  • Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals by telephone and in person.
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry books, files and office supplies and other items weighing up to 30 pounds.
