Job description

Blue Gems Swim School is Chicagoland's premier boutique family-owned swimming school focusing on infant, children, and adult learn to swim lessons as well as a variety of progressive aquatic development programs.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience not required – training and certification will be provided in-house
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and be on your feet for longer periods of time
  • Ability to work in the water for an extended period of time
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
  • Lifeguard certification is required, must be obtained within 60 days of hiring (training and certification provided on-site or off-site)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide swim instruction based on the Blue Gems Swim School curriculum
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents
  • Assess pre-lesson and post-lesson progress according to the swim level objectives provided, and complete required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Effectively communicate progress and feedback to students and their parents or guardians, ensure customer satisfaction
  • Inspect pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Report issues to management as appropriate
  • Place and remove lane lines, perform light cleaning duties around pool deck
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
