Job Description:

Process Operator

Huntsman is seeking a Process Operator supporting the Operations Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.

Job Scope

The Process Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of assigned process units while adhering to all Operational and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies, procedures, and standards. This role monitors and controls process conditions, performs equipment inspections, collects and analyzes samples, maintains accurate operational records, and supports plant productivity through safe work practices and continuous operational awareness.

In summary, as the Process Operator, you will:
  • Operate, monitor, control, and adjust process equipment and operating conditions including temperatures, pressures, levels, and flow rates to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of process equipment, operations, and chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct routine field rounds, inspect equipment, collect process samples, and make operating adjustments based on laboratory results.
  • Operate Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLC control systems as required.
  • Assist with training and supporting team members while collaborating across operational teams.
  • Complete operational, EH&S, maintenance, and compliance documentation accurately and timely.
  • Perform equipment cleaning, lockout/tagout activities, and support maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain safe and organized.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, training programs, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or technical education in Process Technology, Chemical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Alternatively, 5+ years of chemical plant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree, with preference given to candidates with plant operator experience.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and internet-based systems.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance with EH&S standards.
  • Ability to follow operating procedures and work instructions accurately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to make sound operational decisions under supervision.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or certification in Process Technology or a related technical discipline.
  • Previous experience operating DCS and/or PLC-controlled processes.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or petrochemical operations.
  • Experience supporting maintenance activities, lockout/tagout procedures, and process troubleshooting.
  • Fire Brigade or emergency response experience.
Working Environment
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and meet Fire Brigade physical requirements.
  • Must be capable of carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
  • Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Work environment includes outdoor process units, industrial equipment, varying temperatures, and exposure to manufacturing operations while following all required safety protocols.
