Quality Inspector

Classification: Hourly

Reports to: Quality Manager

Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing random inspections in manufacturing departments for in-process and final inspection verification purposes. Performing mini audits throughout the facility to ensure proper identification of raw and finished goods in accordance with the lot traceability and control procedures.

Essential Functions/Duties

  1. Perform all duties with a safety-first mindset
  2. Perform random inspections in manufacturing departments to ensure products are being manufactured correctly according to work orders and drawings provided.
  3. Ensure that each department is inspecting parts properly using gages and instruments available.
  4. Review in-process inspection records and confirm results recorded by machine operators.
  5. Perform mini-audits to ensure lot traceability is maintained throughout the manufacturing process โ€“ ensure that every bin or pallet of in-process material always has proper identification back to the work order.
  6. Perform mini audits of raw material to ensure each mill tag displays a label to show that it has been properly inspected prior to use.
  7. Make sure all gages and instruments used in manufacturing processes are in calibration and if not, bring them to the quality lab to bring current.
  8. Work closely with other members of the quality team as well as manufacturing as required to ensure production of high-quality products.
  9. Perform other tasks as instructed by quality manager or quality engineer.

Required Education and Experience

  1. HS Diploma/GED
  2. Prior quality inspection experience in manufacturing environment
  3. Proficient in MS Office programs, especially MS Excel
