Position Summary

Forklift Operators are responsible for receiving, shipping and quality control of various customer products consisting of non-hazardous and hazardous materials, food grade and other commodities. Forklift Operators will be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and proficient in operating different types of equipment in a fast-paced environment, while implementing best practices that support the continued growth of Palmer Logistics and H. Essers. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and proficient in operating different types of equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Rate:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience and equipment knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load, unload, move, and stage product by operating various equipment such as sit-down forklift, reach truck, cherry picker.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipping including but not limited to labeling, banding, stretch wrapping, block and brace.
  • Verify shipments for accuracy, document and report any discrepancies.
  • Utilize RF scanner.
  • Follow established company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and office personnel to meet productivity goals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections prior to operation.
  • Perform other duties and not limited to just driving a forklift, you will label, band, stretch wrap, clean drums and totes, and restack bags and pails.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 2 -3 years of forklift experience in a logistics environment.
  • Flexible work schedule: must be able to come in early, stay late, and/or work weekends depending on operational needs.
  • Must be able to work in a congested area(s) and non-climate-controlled warehouse.
  • Must have 2 -3 years in handling hazardous material
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, adjust the body to bend, push, pull, stretch, stoop, squat, and grab; walk and sit for extended periods.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of performing basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
