Job description

Position: ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR IN MUSIC

Reports To: Division Chair

Classification: Exempt

Work Remotely: Yes

Core Responsibilities: The Music Department is looking for adjunct instructors to teach the theories and principles of music to a diverse student body. Employees should demonstrate a desire to empower, motivate, and positively influence the lives of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 39 hours per semester.
  • Advising.
  • Participating in department activities.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Music or Music Education or higher, with 18 graduate credit hours in related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • The teaching load will not exceed 9 credits per semester.
  • Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential is essential.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.
  • Some walking, climbing stairs, sitting, and standing for long period of time.
  • Ability to lift 10lbs. 1% of the time.
  • Some nights and weekends may be required
