Merchandising Assistant

Full-Time | In-Office | New York City, NY

Almar Sales Company is seeking an organized, creative, and trend-driven Merchandising Assistant to join our team in New York City. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in merchandising and product development within the fashion, beauty, and consumer products industry.

At Almar Sales Company, we develop trend-right, value-driven products for major national retailers across categories including hair accessories, beauty accessories, cosmetics, skincare, seasonal, kids, toys, and lifestyle products.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Merchandising and Product Development teams with day-to-day projects
  • Help research fashion, beauty, retail, and social media trends to identify new product opportunities
  • Conduct competitive shopping and market research
  • Assist with sourcing and developing new products
  • Organize and track product samples, submissions, and development projects
  • Communicate with overseas factories regarding samples, product details, pricing, and revisions
  • Assist in creating product presentations and materials for customer meetings
  • Help prepare samples and showrooms for buyer presentations
  • Maintain and merchandise showroom displays
  • Work closely with the graphic design team on product and packaging development
  • Assist with product photography, mockups, presentations, and line reviews as needed
  • Maintain product information, pricing, costing, and development spreadsheets
  • Support the merchandising team with multiple customer projects and deadlines
  • Assist with general administrative and organizational needs for the department

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of experience in merchandising, product development, fashion, beauty, accessories, or a related field
  • Recent college graduates with relevant internships are encouraged to apply
  • Strong interest in fashion, beauty, accessories, consumer products, and current trends
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with Canva and AI tools such as ChatGPT is a plus
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with merchandising, design, sales, and overseas production teams
  • Proactive, dependable, and eager to learn
