Job description

Overview

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Our end client who specializes in Software Development for Insurance is looking to expand their team with a Direct Hire for a Principal Software Solutions Engineer/Forward Deployed Engineer.    This is a Remote US role.

End client has outstanding benefits, culture, and their growth has doubled over the last 18 months.

Insurtech experience is required!   Commercial P&C Insurance/understanding of the underwriting lifecycle is required.

20% travel as needed.

  • You build for scale. Every solution you design is created with the broader platform in mind. Rather than solving a single customer's problem, you identify repeatable patterns that can evolve into scalable product capabilities.
  • You own outcomes end-to-end. You take full accountability for the success of your solutions-from architecture and implementation through deployment and optimization. You proactively identify bottlenecks, resolve issues, and continuously improve performance without waiting to be directed.
  • You bridge technology and business. You communicate complex technical concepts with clarity, whether you're leading an architecture workshop with executive stakeholders, collaborating with product teams on strategic direction, or delivering production-ready code for mission-critical applications.
  • You thrive in ambiguity. You enjoy tackling complex challenges, making informed decisions with limited information, and balancing immediate customer needs with the long-term vision of the platform.
  • You elevate those around you. You mentor engineers, promote engineering best practices, and foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities

You will partner closely with our most strategic customers to solve complex business and technical challenges. More than a customer-facing engineer, you will serve as the bridge between real-world customer needs and the evolution of our SaaS platform.

Your mission extends beyond delivering exceptional customer outcomes. You will identify recurring patterns, uncover opportunities for innovation, and transform customer-specific solutions into scalable product capabilities that benefit our entire customer base. By balancing hands-on engineering with strategic product thinking, you'll help shape the future direction of our platform while delivering immediate business value.

What You'll Do
  • Design, architect, and develop scalable features that strengthen and expand our core SaaS platform.
  • Build full-stack solutions across the application stack, including frontend, backend, APIs, databases, integrations, and cloud services.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions and architecture workshops with customers and internal stakeholders to define future-state solutions and implementation strategies.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and type-safe code using modern technologies such as TypeScript, React, Next.js, and related frameworks.
  • Translate customer-specific requirements into reusable platform capabilities, ensuring solutions are designed for scale rather than one-time implementations.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership to influence product strategy, roadmap priorities, and technical direction based on customer insights.
  • Design and implement secure, production-ready integrations and automated workflows that improve customer adoption and operational efficiency.
  • Champion engineering excellence by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, performance optimization, and platform reliability.
  • Mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and promote best practices that elevate the quality, consistency, and scalability of engineering across the organization.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, architectural patterns, and development practices to improve platform performance, maintainability, and customer experience.
MinMaxQualifications

Insurtech experience is required!

  • 10+ years of professional experience in full-stack or frontend development, specifically within SaaS products or startup environments.
  • Insurtech experience required - Commercial P&C Insurance/understanding of the underwriting lifecycle
  • Excellent Communication skills; client facing role
  • Consultative type background - acting as a consultant/partner to end clients while remaining accountable for deliverables
  • Strong coder with shown proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, C++, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with Next.js App Router (server components, layouts, streaming, caching).
  • Experience with tRPC or equivalent type-safe API frameworks.
  • Experience implementing complex, data-heavy views with Tailwind and component libraries (shadcn/ui, Mantine, etc.). Background in UI/UX design or working closely with designers is highly preferred.
  • Ability to design scalable systems and a solid understanding of frontend performance, state management, and accessibility.
