Job description

Description:

The Niles Park District IceLand is seeking a dedicated and experienced Figure Skating Instructor/Coach to join our team. This part-time position offers the opportunity to work with skaters of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to competitive athletes. Instructors will lead Learn-to-Skate classes, provide private and group lessons, and assist with special events, camps, and ice shows.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach group and private figure skating lessons in accordance with ISI or LTS USA programs.
  • Develop and implement training plans to help skaters improve technique and performance.
  • Assist in organizing and choreographing ice shows, competitions, and special events.
  • Provide a positive, safe, and encouraging environment for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with skaters, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain professional certifications and complete required safety training.


Position Details:

Job Type: Part-time, no benefits

Hourly Pay: $15+ per hour (based on experience)

Additional opportunities to build a private lesson clientele over time

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within three months of hire).
  • Completion of Safesport Training (or ability to provide certification).
  • Completion of CDC Online Concussion Training within three months of hire.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Passion for working with children and families in a team-oriented environment


Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Learn-to-Skate classes and competition-level skaters.
  • Experience coaching all levels of skating preferred.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in dance instruction, off-ice training, and ice show choreography is a plus.
  • Must hold or obtain at least two professional memberships within three months of hire.
  • Must maintain valid coaching liability insurance.
