Job description

About Us:
If you are passionate about the ability of American business to improve lives, solve problems, and strengthen society, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the place for you. As the world's largest business organization, we believe in building a future that gives everyone the opportunity to pursue a better tomorrow. We make it our job today-and every day-to build the strongest relationships possible among the American people, business leaders, and elected officials in Washington, D.C., state capitals, and countries around the globe. For them and the businesses we represent, the U.S. Chamber is a trusted advocate and partner.
We are driven by the pursuit of innovation and partnership and hold ourselves to the highest standards. Our commitment to our members is matched only by our commitment to our employees. As part of our team, we will support your long-term career development while delivering relevant learning opportunities. We will empower you to lead, develop deep expertise, and find new approaches to solving the toughest challenges.
Position Overview:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Senior Manager for Europe to support its international policy and advocacy work, with a focus on transport and mobility, energy, and sustainability issues affecting the transatlantic business community.
The successful candidate will be a strong policy professional with experience in international affairs, European policy, government relations, trade, regulatory affairs, or relevant private-sector advocacy. This role requires sound judgment, strong writing and analytical skills, comfort working with member companies, and the ability to translate complex policy developments into clear recommendations and action.
Responsibilities:
  • In coordination with senior staff, develop Chamber positions and advocacy strategies related to European policies and regulations on transport, mobility, energy, and sustainability.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on European legislative, regulatory, and political developments affecting U.S. companies and transatlantic commerce.
  • Work with member companies to identify priorities, gather input, and support consensus-based policy positions.
  • Geographically, manage issues related to Austria, Benelux, Cyprus, Malta, and Switzerland.
  • Recruit and retain member companies.
  • Draft policy analysis, member updates, briefing papers, talking points, letters, meeting summaries, and other advocacy materials.
  • Help plan and execute delegations, meetings, roundtables, briefings, and engagements with policymakers, member companies, business associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Chamber colleagues across relevant policy teams.
  • Support senior staff in meetings with U.S. and European government officials, business leaders, and partner organizations.
  • Contribute to broader transatlantic policy initiatives that strengthen competitiveness, investment, supply chain resilience, innovation, and regulatory cooperation.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree in public policy, law, international relations, economics, business, environmental policy, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience working on European trade and investment policy matters.
  • Strong understanding of European institutions, EU policymaking, and the U.S.-Europe commercial relationship.
  • Familiarity with two or more of the following policy areas: transport and mobility, energy, climate, chemicals regulation, or industrial competitiveness.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Success in working as a team player in a fast-paced hybrid environment.
  • Willingness to travel overseas.
  • Relevant executive or legislative branch experience is a plus.
  • On-the-ground or comparable experience in Europe is a plus.
  • Spanish, German, and French language skills are a plus.

The salary range for this position is $83,498.00 to $100,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant's qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
