Job description

World Vision US is hiring an Accountant to serve in the Finance Division.

Reports to: Director, Accounting & Grant Reporting
Location: Hybrid from Federal Way, WA
Required Experience: One year of private/corporate or public accounting experience
Preferred Experience: Previous not-for-profit or public grants experience preferred
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A for any employer.
Estimated hiring range: $33.65 - $38.22 per hour
The Job
Perform a wide variety of regular and recurring moderately complex to complex accounting functions including establishing accounting records, maintaining the general accounting system, and recommending modifications based on new regulations or policies. Help carry out our Christian organization's mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.
Responsibilities
  1. Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  2. Prepare regular journal entries and moderately complex reconciliations for public grant commodities.
  3. Provide input for financial statements and prepare, run, review, and analyze accounting reports.
  4. Prepare aging schedules and more complex audit schedules requiring some research and analysis.
  5. Establish working relationships with business owners to understand the business trends, changes, etc. for variance analysis. Communicate with customers on reconciling issues and articulate solutions.
  6. Prepare regular internal accounting reports for Finance division management.
  7. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of processes and make recommendations to leadership regarding internal controls, regulatory compliance, and workplace efficiencies.
  8. Develop a role appropriate understanding of the international World Vision partnership and use this context to inform communications, actions, decisions, recommendations and solutions.
  9. Remain current and increase knowledge in related areas utilizing self-study and/or continuing professional education efforts.
  10. Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
