REGISTERED NURSE*

Nature Of Work

The School Nurse will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining health care services with the Miami-Dade County Department of Public Health and other providers, and making provisions for the appropriate health care needs of students, infants, and toddlers. Applicants should meet the requirements of a registered nurse. The School Nurse will work under the supervision and direction of the school principal.

Job Tasks/Assignments
  1. Serves as school liaison with health providers to assure high quality health care services.
  2. Arranges for the Health Department to provide on-site clinical services.
  3. Participates in case conference meetings.
  4. Assists physicians.
  5. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies for the clinic.
  6. Prepares clinical charts.
  7. Gives medication as prescribed by physicians.
  8. Applies nursing principles and techniques in the care and treatment of patients (infants/toddlers).
  9. Performs related work as required or as assigned.
Physical Requirements

This work requires the following physical activities: mobility, sitting, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity, frequent in-county travel, and occasionally work on evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with F.S. 464 or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8. OR Certification as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in accordance with Florida Statute 464.
