Job description

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end ocean freight operations for import and export shipments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with ocean carriers and trucking companies.
  • Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and service agreements to optimize cost and service quality.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor shipment schedules, transit times, and cargo status; proactively resolve delays, disruptions, and claims.
  • Oversee documentation accuracy, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs filings.
  • Lead, train, and supervise ocean freight staff; set performance goals and conduct evaluations.
  • Analyze KPIs such as on-time delivery, detention/demurrage, and carrier performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, warehousing and distribution, trucking, customs) to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage budgets and control costs related to ocean freight operations.
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices to increase efficiency and service reliability.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in ocean freight operations, freight forwarding, or international logistics
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field preferred
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required
  • Proficiency in ERP platforms and MS Office
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Bilingual in English and Korean

Pay

The base salary range for this role is between $80,000 - 100,000 yearly, and your base salary will depend on your experiences, qualifications, and skills.
