Job description

Position Summary

To troubleshoot, repair, overhaul equipment in several maintenance systems including machining, electrical, plumbing, or welding. 

Responsibilities

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

    1. Maintenance of machine equipment and hand tools. 

    1. Troubleshoot a problem beyond basic component replacement within two or more specific trades. 

    1. Responsible for maintenance of equipment records, and administration of preventative maintenance programs. 

    1. Installation, alteration, preventative maintenance & repair of various types of production equipment. 

    1. Responsible for proper administration of LOTO, confined space and other OSHA guidelines. 

    DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.  Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.  Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately. 

    1. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner. 

    1. Maintain production schedules. 

    1. Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.   

    1. Other duties may be assigned later. 

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.  Minimum of two years trade school or equivalent experience is preferred. Industrial experience in a similar industry preferred.

  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficient in basic mechanical or electrical skills

  • Excellent precision measuring ability

  • Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and steam systems

  • Understand practical aspects of preventative, predictive maintenance systems & proper lubrication selection & application

  • Able to read blueprints and plans for construction at plant level.

1.  Basic computer skills - Microsoft Office package

2.  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 

3.  Ability to use all general mechanical hand tools and light power tools

4.  Knowledge of light machine shop tools

5.  Understanding of low pressure hydraulic, pneumatic, with the ability to troubleshoot these systems.
