Job description

The Payroll Tax & Compliance Manager is subject matter expert, ensuring that all payroll-related transactions and processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner including general ledger and tax account maintenance, auditing, and federal and state compliance.
Essential Duties:
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing including imports and balancing
  • Bi-weekly tax and compliance audits
  • Bi-weekly leave of absence, HSA account, commission, tax and various other audits
  • Coordinate the set-up of new deduction, earnings codes or tax jurisdictions
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Data Management Department for auditing and maintaining employee data in the payroll and timekeeping systems, and maintaining the timekeeping system set-up tables
  • Reconcile cumulative payroll amounts and processing payroll adjustments
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payments to associates and taxing authorities in compliance with all federal, state and local payroll laws
  • Responsible for payroll preparation/processing as well as responsible for tax reporting/records
  • Responsible for quarterly tax reconciliation and annual W-2s accuracy and timely filing
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of 5,000+ multi-state payroll experience
  • 1+ year UKG Pro experience required
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) required
  • Strong Knowledge of local, state and federal payroll regulations and reporting requirements
  • Understanding of taxable and nontaxable earnings, and fringe benefits
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills: able to manage effective internal/external relationships within immediate area of responsibility and build successful relationships across the organization
  • Strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated coaching/mentoring skills and issue management problem solving skills
