Job description

Who We Are
Maybern is transforming the way private fund managers effectively manage their funds through cutting edge technology: an operating system with deterministic guard rails underneath, agents on top. Maybern is founded by top engineering experts with deep knowledge of the fund management space.
Private funds manage $15T in capital and are growing at 20% YoY, but with increasing regulatory scrutiny and investor demands for transparency, the need for more modern, fully agentic solutions to help private fund CFOs is crucial.
This is where Maybern comes in.
We are equipping fund managers with a fully agentic operating system for private fund management, enabling private investment managers to focus on what they do best: driving returns for their investors. We are backed by leading venture capital firms and a large number of strategic investors.
Maybern is an NYC based company with a strong in-office culture to drive collaboration, and we are looking to make strong additions to our team.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for experienced fund accountants or implementation experts in the private equity industry that are interested in translating that experience into the development of critical software for the private fund industry. You should have the ability to work effectively with a small and focused team building and implementing complex fund software.
What You'll Do
You will be a part of the foundation of Maybern's Implementation team, which is designing, building, and implementing our product in conjunction with the Product and Engineering teams. Consequently, you will be one of the chief architects of the product, requiring the ability to translate private equity experience into business logic that we will encode in software. You will also be key in building relationships with existing clients and understanding their unique business requirements. You will work hand-in-hand with senior members of the team to:
  • Build & Strengthen Relationships: You will be responsible for building and strengthening relationships with our clients, including their CFOs and Controllers. You will plan onboarding and the roll-out process for new fund managers, and evaluate product enhancements.
  • Plan: Analyze private equity client needs and key requirements to help prioritize the product roadmap.
  • Design: Work with product managers, engineers, and clients to continue to develop Maybern to solve for client requirements. This will involve implementation of the most complicated fund and investment structures to test functionality and discover product fixes and enhancements.

Who You Are
  • Collaborative. You love to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment managing both internal and external stakeholders, excel at distilling and incorporating feedback, and are a clear and consistent communicator.
  • Product Vision. You have a deep understanding and experience with the inner workings of fund and investment structures and can translate a variety of structures and calculations in a concise manner. You can apply your knowledge to identify user needs and shape the vision for the user experience.
  • Attention to Detail. There is no room for error when building software to manage such critical calculations for investment managers.
  • Leader. You're eager to shape our client operations foundation and will level up team practices and processes. You can take broad guidance and determine the best path forward. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable wearing multiple hats.
  • Strategic. You see both the forest and the trees: think big picture, while also living in the weeds of a problem. In looking at a big picture problem, you pay meticulous attention to each detail while keeping high level implications in mind. You can plan for the long term while navigating short-term hurdles.
  • Curious. You enjoy learning about different technical concepts and clients' unique approaches to managing their fund finance operations.

This Could Be a Great Fit If You...
  • Have a minimum of five years of experience in accounting for private equity funds, with hands-on experience at a private equity firm a plus
  • Have an undergraduate degree in accounting or finance, with accounting preferred and CPA accreditation a plus.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and are comfortable presenting to clients.
  • Are proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Are knowledgeable in fund accounting systems (Yardi, Investran, etc.).
  • Have experience with investment structures and financial statements.
  • Have a heightened attention to detail that can be applied to the translation of a variety of private fund structures and calculations into a flexible software solution.

Benefits
  • We offer a competitive salary + equity package, comprehensive benefits, and a flexible family-friendly work environment. Some of our perks include:
    • Comprehensive healthcare benefits
      • Maybern covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums
      • HSA & FSA plans
    • Family-Friendly policies
      • Paid parental leave
    • Flexible schedule
      • Flexible PTO / sick leave
      • WFH as needed to fit your needs
