What does an implementation manager do?

An Implementation Manager is responsible for overseeing the deployment and integration of new systems, products, or services within a company or for clients. They coordinate between different teams, manage project timelines, and ensure that all requirements are met for a successful rollout. Their role involves problem-solving, communication, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the implementation process. Implementation Managers often work closely with clients to understand their needs and tailor the implementation accordingly.

What is an implementation manager?

The primary responsibilities of an implementation manager are to introduce new systems, programs, and technologies into an organization. In this position, you draft an implementation strategy to ensure the new information system is right for the company’s goals. Other job duties include team management, creating work plans, and ensuring each process works smoothly. Technical skills are essential even though the career doesn’t entail creating programs or technology. Key qualifications for an implementation manager job are a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, management experience, and excellent communication skills.

How does an implementation manager typically collaborate with clients and internal teams during a project rollout?

An Implementation Manager serves as the main liaison between clients and various internal departments, such as project management, technical support, and product development. During a project rollout, they coordinate meetings, clarify client requirements, and ensure all stakeholders are aligned with the project timeline and objectives. This role often involves resolving issues quickly, managing expectations, and providing regular status updates to both clients and internal teams to ensure a smooth and successful implementation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an implementation manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Implementation Manager, you need strong project management skills, technical acumen relevant to the industry, and a bachelor's degree in business, IT, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Jira or Asana, CRM systems, and certifications such as PMP or Agile can be highly beneficial. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and seamless coordination across teams during complex implementations.

Job description

Implementation Manager

Department: Client Services

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: New York, USA

Reporting To: Alex Hendersen

Compensation: $110,000 - $140,000 / year

Description About the Team

The Client Services team at FundApps is made up of 23 people with roles in Implementation, Client Success and Client Experience (CX). Teams are based in London, New York and Singapore. We have a passion for excellent client service and set the bar high.

We’re looking for an Implementation Manager in New York who can help us scale the business whilst maintaining our high client satisfaction rating (currently 100%) and market‑leading Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 58.

The Role

Reporting to the Lead Implementation Manager in New York, you will be responsible for ensuring clients can use the services they’ve signed up for as quickly as possible. This includes onboarding new clients and adding new services for existing clients. The key areas of focus are the governance of the implementation project, and assisting with the technical system setup by providing subject‑matter expertise throughout each stage of the implementation.

While speed of delivery is an important success factor, overall client experience is a higher priority. The role requires technical expertise but places a stronger emphasis on client‑facing and soft skills, ensuring we deliver the best possible service to our clients—150+ financial institutions worldwide, including five of the world’s ten largest hedge funds.

What You’ll Be Working On
  • Ensure a consistently excellent client experience by planning, scheduling, and managing the implementation from project kick‑off through to go‑live.
  • Create a bespoke implementation plan (using our template) based on the client’s product suite, profile and objectives.
  • Facilitate recurring meetings with the client where you act as both a product SME and project manager, to ensure the client meets project milestones and objectives.
  • Guide the client through the data and technical requirements to build out XML/CSV files and configure APIs.
  • Proactively anticipate potential project blockers and challenges, and then find solutions and own the delivery.
  • Contribute to company goals and team success by identifying opportunities to improve workflows and processes.
  • Use your expertise to share best practices and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Help facilitate cross‑team work and learning, through formal processes and channels.
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders across Client Success, Product, Engineering and Regulatory teams to ensure smooth onboarding.
What You’ll Bring To The Team
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a financial SaaS, FinTech or RegTech company.
  • Financial industry knowledge and experience of working with asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds and/or banks.
  • A track record of managing multiple simultaneous complex implementation projects with demonstrated understanding of scheduling, scope and resource management, issue tracking, and escalation management.
  • Proven ability to learn technical and financial knowledge related to FundApps (XML manipulation, APIs, financial instruments, trading terminology).
  • Experience managing numerous stakeholders with varying seniority levels and priorities.
  • Advocacy for clients while balancing the best interests of FundApps and the broader client base.
  • Adaptability to change in a fast‑paced, growing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills.
  • A passionate, dedicated, and solutions‑focused attitude.
  • A thirst for knowledge and a desire to constantly improve.
Salary

We are hiring across middle and senior levels. Base salary ranges from $110,000 to $140,000 per year, with the final offer based on experience and interview performance.

Work Eligibility

We require candidates to have permission to work in the US without sponsorship.

Life At FundApps
  • Work/life balance with flexible hybrid working.
  • Private medical and dental insurance.
  • Wellbeing benefits such as private health insurance, life insurance, a flexible stipend and mental health coaching.
  • Peer micro‑bonuses.
  • $1,300 learning budget each year and unlimited professional development leave.
  • Peer‑led ‘Brown‑bag lunch’ learning sessions and an annual Learning Festival.
  • 25 days holiday leave + an extra day if you use it all, and an extra day after 3 and 5 years.
  • Additional paid holiday leave after 5 years.
  • 26 weeks leave for all new parents regardless of gender, location or family structure.
  • Volunteering leave.
  • Birthday off.
