What the role is about:
We are seeking an energetic and experienced Compliance Manager to join our team! The Compliance Manager oversees and manages the compliance program across the company's retail, cultivation, and manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for auditing site-level compliance, providing corrective action guidance, managing regulatory relationships, and partnering with legal counsel and site managers to ensure the company operates in full alignment with all applicable state and local cannabis regulations.

What impact you'll make:
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve the company's compliance program across all retail, cultivation, and manufacturing facilities
  • Review and evaluate compliance policies, procedures, and related issues, escalating gaps or risks as needed
  • Plan, develop, review, administer, and revise the company's standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standards of conduct to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct
  • Develop and maintain a company-wide compliance audit form/checklist to standardize evaluations across all site types
  • Conduct weekly site audits at retail, cultivation, and manufacturing locations to verify adherence to SOPs, regulatory requirements, and internal standards
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of the compliance software platform
  • Draft after-action reports following each audit or incident, documenting findings, root causes, and recommended corrective actions
  • Ensure thorough investigation of incidents where compliance or safety is compromised, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions
  • Track corrective action plans through to completion, verifying that identified issues are resolved
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with the Office of Cannabis Management, Minnesota Department of Agriculture and other relevant local and state regulatory bodies
  • Attend state and local inspections and meetings with regulators and inspectors, as needed
  • Review inspection findings, notices of non-compliance, citations, fines, or warning letters, and prepare written responses and corrective action plans
  • Manage and track license applications and renewals, change requests, and other activities required to obtain or maintain licensure for all facility types at the state and local level
  • Stay current on Minnesota cannabis regulations, pending legislative changes, and evolving industry best practices
  • Work closely with legal counsel on regulatory interpretation, risk assessment, enforcement matters, and documentation of compliance decisions
  • Partner cross-functionally with site managers across retail, cultivation, and manufacturing operations to ensure day-to-day practices meet compliance standards
  • Coach and support site managers in addressing compliance gaps and building sustainable compliance habits within their teams
  • Coordinate with cultivation, manufacturing, and retail leadership to stay ahead of operational changes that may carry compliance implications
  • Design and deliver compliance training programs for employees across all site types, including onboarding and ongoing refresher training
  • Maintain accurate records of employee compliance training completion
  • Oversee document storage and retention practices, ensuring compliance records, SOPs, audit reports, and regulatory correspondence are organized, secure, and retained per legal and regulatory requirements
  • Complete all required medical, state, and company training in a timely manner
  • Take direction and feedback from senior leadership while advising on compliance operations
  • Communicate effectively with team members using company tools (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, email, etc.)
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance, as this is essential to the role
  • Uphold the company's mission, core values, and high ethical standards in all interactions
  • Other duties as assigned

What you've accomplished:
  • 1-5 years of compliance experience required; cannabis or other highly regulated industry experience preferred
  • Previous experience creating and editing SOPs
  • Experience with licensing processes and tracking state cannabis compliance/licensing requirements
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with minimal oversight
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Research skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with state and local regulators
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and computer software
  • Continuously open to constructive, developmental feedback
  • Must pass all required background checks (pre-employment/post-offer)
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal and company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Requires open availability across days, nights, and weekends; reliable, responsible, and dependable attendance
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb a ladder, and move/handle boxes of product or fixtures (up to 50 lbs) throughout the facility

  • Compensation: $85,000-90,000 salary depending on experience
